Boy Scout Troop 316
Chartered by The Landmark Church
Baden-Powell Council, Hiawatha District
Binghamton, New York
Taking their name from John 3:16, Troop 316 was first chartered in 1997 as a missional outreach to boys from our local community aged 11 - 17. The leaders hope to guide the boys to exemplify Christ as they move through the ranks to become Eagle Scouts. After the first three ranks, moving ahead requires merit badges and community service projects. The leaders provide encouragement to young men as they learn character and team-building skills to meet specific advancement goals. The men also encourage the boys to become a part of Landmark or other church youth groups.
The 14 scouts in the troop have a camping trip almost every month except for August. During a blistering-hot weekend in June 2010, they camped outside of Nineveh on the beautiful Silfee Farm. Pastor Karl Silfee surprised them in the morning by dressing as Jesus & quoting the entire Sermon on the Mount to the campers!

One practical way you can help is to bring your 5 cent returnable bottles and cans to the Landmark Church. There is a collection barrel at the bottom of the stairs by the ladies room and side door. Don't forget that water bottles are now stamped for NY deposits!
